IOE has released a new guidance for business on the latest climate change policy developments.

Climate change policies are becoming a priority area for employer organisations. In a 2020 survey with IOE’s global network, climate change was identified as one of the most significant areas of concern for employers’ organisations. IOE is strengthening its advocacy efforts to ensure members have the necessary tools to bring the voice of employers to national plans and other policies on climate change, with an employment and skills perspective. This latest descriptive guidance document (available in the "Resources" section), entitled Guidance Paper on employment, just transition and climate governance, is part of this effort.

The paper provides summaries on the most recent developments in climate change international discussions that impact employers. It covers the outcomes from the COP meeting in Glasgow in December 2021, the most up-to-date data around the impact of climate adaptation or mitigation, with special emphasis on employment data, and an overview on what employer organisations can do to support to their members. The document concludes with a guide to the institutions that are leading international climate negotiations.
