Employers and businesses are dealing with the physical impacts of climate change on a daily basis around the world. As climate action accelerates and climate policies develop and become more widespread it is important for the private sector to be aware of recent developments and acquire additional expertise for adaptation to and mitigation of climate change.

Risks coming from the physical effects of climate change as well as regulatory changes in many countries need to be anticipated and assessed and employers are faced with strong challenges as regards to transitioning operations and accounting for the additional reporting requirements. The ILO International Training Center in Turin is organising a training course, the Youth and Climate Academy, for young professionals seeking to develop in-depth knowledge of climate action, the risks and challenges, priorities, and best practices. IOE encourages members to join this course, from 6 to 17 June 2022, and get involved as it will also host experts from employers’ organisations and will provide a good overview of the main discussions in this important agenda.

The Academy proposes a two-week programme of lectures, discussions, exercises and interactive exchange that will tackle a variety of different themes. These range from statistical and empirical data about climate change and the world of work to green skills and information on critical elements such as financing, and sustainability standards, while also working on soft skills for independent research, project management, leadership, policy advocacy and social dialogue.

Scholarships are available for qualified candidates. In addition, group discounts are available for universities, workers’ and employers’ organizations with at least 3 participants per institution. To apply for a potential scholarship or discount, please make sure that you mention that you are coming from an affiliate of the IOE when registering through the ITCILO website. On that basis IOE will then identify and select possible scholarship candidates or apply discounted rates.
