Reminder on ILO’s Global Coalition for Social Justice

Update to IOE’s recent communication on this important ILO global initiative.

The International Organisation of Employers (IOE) is renewing its call for IOE corporate partners, members and member companies to join the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Global Coalition for Social Justice. Organisations, employers’ groups, foundations and companies are all invited to participate in advancing the Coalition’s social justice agenda as set out in the Concept Note (see Resource section below). Coalition members can commit to specific objectives to address issues such as inequality, discrimination and labour rights, sustainable enterprises, human rights, employment creation, just transitions for sustainable development and the promotion of social dialogue.

By joining, Coalition members will:

  • Enhance the effectiveness of their efforts by strategically aligning with partners who also have a commitment to social justice and engaging in collaborative reviews. By tapping into the mandates, priorities, and expertise of each collaborator, you can amplify the scale and impact of your actions.
  • Elevate the visibility of their initiatives by becoming part of a broader network of international partners. This increased visibility not only garners recognition but also reinforces the importance and success of your endeavours.
  • Engage with an array of international and national partners to sustainably advance social justice, using dialogue as a strategic tool to address challenges and drive positive change.

This commitment can be carried out individually or in collaboration with other international or domestic entities, offering a reasonable and meaningful path to contributing to positive change on a global scale.

IOE, in its role as the Secretariat of the Employers’ Group at the ILO, will lead the business engagement in the Coalition. IOE members are welcome to send the invitation to their respective company members. Companies and/or foundations who are interested in joining as a partner need to inform their national employers’ organisation and/or inform directly the IOE.

Other UN agencies, international organisations, non-governmental organisations and trade unions are already joining this collaborative effort.
