New IOE Guidance on Reshaping Human and Social Skills for the Digital Era

Explore how to integrate human and social skills in a digitalised workplace with our latest IOE guidance.

IOE with support from the European Union has released a new guidance document to increasingly indispensable socio-digital skills: "Reshaping Human and Social Skills for the Digital Era". Building on initial research with Deloitte in 2020, this publication (available in the "Resources" section) examines the integration of social competencies and digital skills necessary for today’s evolving workplaces.

The guidance highlights 8 critical socio-digital skills essential for modern work environments and provides insights on how employers and governments can help develop these skills. As digital transformations continue to reshape job roles, this document offers strategies for maintaining a balance between technological proficiency and robust social skills.

Employers are encouraged to support continuous learning and adaptability in their organisations to keep pace with digital advancements. Similarly, governments can aid this transition by implementing policies that promote workforce development in line with current and future job market demands.

This guidance aims to equip organisations and policymakers with practical approaches to foster a workforce that is both technologically adept and proficient in essential human and social skills, ensuring readiness for the digital age.
