IOE New York Office Overview of 2023 Activities and Peek into 2024 Plans

The IOE office in New York shares a snapshot of its activities in 2023 and presents a short overview of 2024 plans.

The IOE office in New York experienced a productive year, welcoming several members for visits. Throughout the year, there was a dedicated effort to enhance engagement with global policy discussions, forge partnerships, and collaborate with UN funds and programmes. Ongoing dialogues with UN Resident Coordinators were also a priority. This work was completed, thanks to the invaluable support and technical expertise provided by colleagues at IOE Geneva.

In 2023, the Office supported IOE’s global actions related to the 5th UN Conference on Least Developed Countries (read IOE’s call for action), small and medium-sized enterprises, and the cultivation of stronger partnerships, especially in the technology sector. The emphasis extended to addressing challenges related to climate and accelerating efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Recognising that only 15 per cent of SDGs will be reached, the private sector emerged as a crucial ally, leveraging its innovation, technology, and expertise to play a pivotal role in partnering and implementing initiatives.
