Dante Pesce, global expert on business and human rights, joins IOE as Senior Adviser

Former member and chair of UN Working Group on business and human rights, Dante Pesce, to work with IOE on building a future centre of excellence on responsible business conduct and human rights.

The International Organisation of Employers (IOE) is pleased to announce the engagement of Mr Dante Pesce as Senior Strategic Adviser on Business and Human Rights.

Mr Pesce has devoted his career to promoting and supporting the implementation of sustainability and responsible business practices, including business and human rights, sustainability reporting, and corporate sustainability strategy.

Mr Pesce’s engagement further advances IOE’s longstanding policy and practical work in the business and human rights field. For over a decade, IOE helps businesses of all sizes to meet their responsibility to respect human rights in line with the United Nations Guiding Principles. It also provides a vital business perspective to multilateral efforts to advance the business and human rights and responsible business conduct agenda.

Mr Pesce’s professional experience will significantly enrich ongoing efforts to expand support to IOE’s global network of over 140 employers’ organisations worldwide and their over 50 million company members on the issue. Over the past seven years (until October 31st 2021), he served as a member and chair of the UN Working Group on the issue of human rights and transnational corporations and other business enterprises.

 Currently, Mr Pesce holds advisory positions to, AMFORI, Member of the  Stakeholder Advisory Board (Brussels); Dutch Banking Association, Strategic Advisor on Business and Human Rights (Amsterdam); United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment UNPRI, member of the working group on human rights (London); DPDHL, Strategic advisor to the governance body on human rights (Bonn); Wintershaldea, strategic advisor to the governance body on human rights (Hamburg); Chilean National Contact Point for the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, Member of the multistakeholder advisory board (Santiago); and Chilean National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights, member of multistakeholder advisory board (Santiago).

At a regional level, Mr Pesce is the Founder and Executive Director of the VINCULAR Center for Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development at the Catholic University of Valparaíso, Chile (2001-currently), with extensive work on capacity building, public policy making, applied research and advisory services to individual companies and industry associations.
