In a constantly changing environment, having both technical and human social skills is an essential part of being able to meet the challenges of everyday life, including to secure one’s livelihood in the world of work, employability and prosperity. Digitalisation, globalisation, demographic shifts and other changes in work organisation are constantly reshaping skill needs. This can lead to persistent skill shortages and mismatch which are costly for individuals, firms and society in terms of lost wages and lower productivity and growth. These costs can be reduced through better assessment and anticipation of changing skill needs and by improving the responsiveness of skills development to these changes.

In this context, and just before the B20 Summit in New Delhi (25-27 August), the 2023 edition of the Business Impact Summit will bring high level speakers to engage with a selected audience of global policy-makers, employer and business organisations, CEOs and C-suite business as well as other stakeholders on the theme: “Taking B20 recommendations into policy action: Focus on tackling skills shortages and anticipation for business competitiveness”.

This event is part of the International Organisation of Employers (IOE), Deloitte and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) concrete efforts to increase the awareness of this topic and to bring concreterecommendations for policymakers to urgently tackle the issue of skills shortages.
