IOE-KAS-DCO Virtual Dialogue Series on UN/Private Sector Collaboration Asia-Pacific Knowledge Sharing Workshop: Case Study of Pakistan

Location

Online

Organised by IOE, KAS and the UN Development Coordination Office (DCO)

Aim of the meeting

This closed virtual meeting will bring together UN Resident Coordinators (RCs) and employer and business member organisations (EBMOS) to share their knowledge, lessons learned, and good practices of working together to address issues that hamper sustainable development. This workshop is a continuation in a series of dialogues on UN/private-sector collaboration and deepens the discussion in the Asia-Pacific region. It will feature RCs and EBMOs of India and Pakistan, along with other stakeholders/partners, who will share their experiences of working together.

The event, structured as a panel discussion, will introduce the stakeholders, outline their added value as a partner, and highlight the benefits of their collaboration. It will also provide concrete recommendations for engagement, particularly on how EBMOs can/and should be involved in the development of Common Country Analyses (CCAs), Cooperation Frameworks, and Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs). Through these processes, the UN and governments design, implement, and assess UN sustainable development activities within a country. The aim is to grow awareness of the value that RCs and EBMOs bring to each other’s priorities, outline the practical steps that RCs and EMBOs can take to engage meaningfully, identify challenges and solutions, and share good practices.

The socioeconomic impact of COVID-19, as well as the general lack of progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), means that urgent and collective action is needed. Through collaboration, RCs and EBMOs can help to design and implement a job-rich recovery to build back better.
