ILO Technical Meeting on the protection of whistleblowers

The ILO will hold a tripartite meeting on the protection of whistle-blowers in the public sector from 26 to 30 September 2022. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss compelling issues concerning the protection of whistle-blowers in the public service. It will identify gaps, difficulties and opportunities in the application of the current whistle-blower’s protection frameworks with the aim of adopting conclusions, including recommendations for future action by the International Labour Organization and its Members. While limited to the public sector, the meeting is highly relevant for the Employers representatives as measures identified for the protection of whistleblowers in the public sector could then be used as a model for regulations in the private sector.

Eight Employer, eight Worker and Governmental experts will be invited to take part in the elaboration of these conclusions.
