ILO-IMO Meeting of Experts to adopt guidelines for Medical Examination of Fishers/Fishing Vessel Personnel

The joint ILO-IMO meeting will be convened in person from 12 to 16 February 2024 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Eight representatives from Employers are invited to take part in this meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to finalise and adopt ILO-IMO guidelines on the medical examination of fishers/fishing vessel personnel. These guidelines will assist medical practitioners, shipping vessel owners, fishers’ representatives, fishers, and other relevant persons with the conduct of medical fitness examinations of serving fishers and fishers candidates.

Luis Rodrigo Morales, Director for Industrial Relations and ILO Coordination, and Natalia Privee Boudeguer, Junior Adviser, are coordinating, supporting and guiding the participation of the Employer constituency.
