IOE will provide online interpretation into Spanish and French via Zoom

This meeting aims to draw attention to the critical role and input of the private sector in accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and to the opportunities for partnering with the United Nations and national governments by participating in Country Analytics, Cooperation Frameworks and Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs).

Through an interactive online dialogue the event will bring experts (employer federations, businesses, missions) from Pakistan, Senegal and Uruguay along UN DCO, government officials and UN Global Compact to share their expertise and recommendations on public-private engagement in the VNRs.

First focus dialogue:

  • How do employers' organisations and their members engage at the local level with the government and the UN, including the Resident Coordinators? Do the UN and government include the private sector in discussions on country analytics, cooperation frameworks and voluntary national reviews? If so, who and on what issues? Does your organisation participate in country assessments and voluntary national reviews? What would the government like to see from the private sector to better implement the 2030 Agenda? What have been the lessons learned from including the private sector? If they are not engaged, how can employers become more engaged?

Second focus dialogue:

  • Which SDGs are considered most important by the private sector? In what specific technical areas or components could the private sector play a more prominent /impact role? What are the technical areas such as, sustainable social protection systems, informality, skills where the private sector and international organizations have partnered for impact? What are the key elements that make it a successful exercise/ partnership?

Closing: what are the next steps in improving collaboration between employers and UN RCs?

Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is one of Germany’s six political foundations, providing and facilitating platforms for dialogue among diverse stakeholders worldwide.
