GFMD thematic workshop on climate change and human mobility

Organised by the GFMD

This event is organized within the framework of the French presidency of the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) and is open to all GFMD stakeholders, including Member States, local and regional governments, civil society, the private sector, youth, as well as other institutional partners. Articulated in three roundtables, this event will be hybrid allowing streaming of the opening session, roundtables and written questions for remote participants during the Q&A sessions.

In line with international commitments to reduce the adverse effects of disasters, climate change and environmental degradation on migration and displacement, France, as Chair of the 2022-2023 GFMD wishes to engage the GFMD community in a dialogue aimed at defining concrete proposals to anticipate, mitigate and prepare for displacement linked to climate change and environmental degradation, improve the management of such displacement and migration phenomena, support those most vulnerable to the consequences of these hazards, and explore ways in which labor mobility can contribute to efforts to address the causes and consequences of climate change.
