B20 Conference on Future of Work, Skilling & Mobility

Location

Hotel Marriott, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India

Organised by B20 India – Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Deloitte and IOE

Aim of the meeting

Ahead of the B20 Summit India, this conference will focus on initiating discussion on transition from informal to formal economy and promoting inclusive and diverse workforce especially among G20 countries.

A significant aspect of the future of work is reducing informality to create more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable economies that benefit all citizens. The informal enterprises exhibit low levels of productivity, low rates of savings and investment, and negligible capital accumulation. By addressing informality, G20 nations can create a more sustainable and equitable future of work while also driving inclusive economic development. It requires coordinated efforts from governments, the private sector, and other stakeholders to create a conducive environment for formal employment, promote entrepreneurship, design viable social protection systems, and enhance public infrastructure.

High equality, diversity and inclusion levels are associated with greater innovation, productivity and performance, talent recruitment and workforce retention and well-being. To enable an equitable transformation based on inclusion and diversity all the stakeholders need to come together. Apart from being a business advantage, companies with D&I policies and practices are more creative and supportive of different voices, thus attracting top talent in any industry. In terms of economic and social benefits, these contributions would be highly beneficial.

In this context, this discussion will offer insights from business experts, employers' representatives and industry leaders to inform the B20 Summit.
