Aim of the meeting
The Africa - Gulf Dialogue on the Implementation of the GCM will bring together representatives of the six Gulf states (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates), as well as representatives of some of the main African countries of origin to the Gulf, which include also countries of origin, transit and destination in this migration corridor: North Africa (Egypt), Western and Central Africa (Gambia and Ghana), East and Horn of Africa (Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia and Uganda) and Southern Africa (South Africa). Furthermore, it will include representatives of the African Union, regional economic communities, civil society and academia.
The aims of the dialogue will be as follows:
- To enhance dialogue on the GCM in the Africa-Gulf migration corridor including through a whole-of-government and whole-of-society, and in the UN Networks on Migration;
- Support GCM implementation by enhancing peer-learning and exchanges on best practices related to priority areas relevant to both regions;
- Put forward recommendations on relevant priority actions for both regions and explore areas for joint cross-regional programmes and advocacy in areas of mutual interest;
- Inform the next round of GCM Regional Reviews in Africa and the Arab region.

Mr Amadou Sako, IOE Adviser and Project Officer for Africa, will represent the employers and take part in the event.
