Dear members and partners,
The UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR) has issued a “call for input” as part of its third and likely final Accountability and Remedy Project (ARP III). This project is focusing on non-State-based grievance mechanisms, in particular private / company grievance mechanisms.
IOE members and their member companies are encouraged to respond to the relevant questionnaire below. Deadline: Tuesday 30 April:
- Companies: Questions for companies that operate or participate in a private grievance mechanism; and
- IOE members:Open process questionnaire. This is open to anyone who has knowledge and/or experience of non-State-based grievance mechanisms.
Background: The IOE has been actively engaged in OHCHR’s “Accountability and Remedy Project” since it began in 2015. The project is focused on implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business & Human Rights, specifically “Pillar 3: access to remedy for victims.” The first two ARP projects (ARP I on “judicial mechanisms” and ARP II on “State-based non-judicial mechanisms”) resulted in recommended actions to States. ARP III focuses even more squarely on business and it will result in recommended actions to States and business.
