Dernières actualités de l'OIE sur les développements en matière de sécurité et de santé au travail

L'OIE continue de diriger des délégations d'entreprises lors de rencontres internationales sur la sécurité et la santé au travail (en anglais).

Practitioners, governments, employers and worker representatives gathered at the 2023 World Congress on Safety and Health at Work, co-organised by the International Labour Organization, International Social Security Association and the government of Australia in Sydney from 27 to 30 November.

Held every three years, the World Congress offers a unique platform to keep abreast of new trends and developments in occupational safety and health, as well as a space to interact with the international occupational safety and health community. Issues topping the 2023 agenda were mental health prevention, digital transformation, technology and its impact on health and safety at work, climate change and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH).

As co-organiser, the ILO played an important role throughout the event. IOE took part in most of these events, including the presentation of an ILO report on safer and healthier work and the latest estimates on the matter. Every day, 7,500 workers die from work-related causes: 6,500 from diseases and 1,000 from occupational accidents. Furthermore, almost 4% of the world’s annual GDP is lost due to these preventable incidents.

IOE also organised a symposium on November 30 to share knowledge, experience and best practices on Health and Safety in a Digital Future. During the symposium, IOE explored the possibilities offered by digital tools and technologies for improving health and safety in the working environment. International experts and business representatives, including IOE members from Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Turkish Confederation of Employer Associations, and the Fédération des Entreprises de Belgique, discussed the benefits and challenges of digitalisation.

Symposium presentations covered several aspects, including the execution of work (augmented workforce), organisation of work (artificial intelligence), management of work (use of algorithms), communication and work relations, a (dis)connected workforce, and company culture (embracing the digital for decent work). A video recording of the symposium can be found here
