The World Health Organization (WHO) and public health authorities around the world are taking action to contain the COVID-19 outbreak. With a challenge of this scale all sections of our society – including businesses and employers – must play a role to succesfully stop further spread of this disease. Just like with occupational safety and health, everyone involved in the world of work has a role to play in ensuring the workplace stays risk-free and activities can carry on without unnecessary negative consequences. 

WHO has prepared a guide for employers and the workplace on preventing the spread of COVID-19 and ensuring a healthier and more productive workplace. It contains useful and practical information as well as many low-cost measures which help prevent the spread of infections in the workplace, such as colds, flu and stomach bugs, and protect customers, contractors and employees. IOE highly recommends all employers' organisations and their members follow WHO guidelines and the suggested best practices in order to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 and create better workplaces.
