IOE Champions Business Engagement at the UN Annual Forum on Business and Human Rights

Three days of extensive debates on Human Rights ended in Geneva with strong participation and commitment from the business sector through IOE, its employer organisations and partner companies.

IOE had the privilege to lead the representation of the private sector during this year’s UN Annual Forum on Business and Human Rights, held from 27 to 29 November under the theme "Towards Effective Change in Implementing Obligations, Responsibilities and Remedies."

For the first time since the pandemic, IOE organised its annual Business Caucus for its network. IOE and its business community were honoured to hold engaging discussions with Mr. Volker Türk, High Commissioner for Human Rights, on tackling common challenges and driving progress.

IOE Corporate Partners enjoyed an exclusive session with Ms. Nada Al-Nashif, United Nations Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights, marking a pivotal moment for private-sector collaboration.

IOE also hosted its traditional business cocktail reception. Together with 11 other business organisations, IOE was pleased to welcome members of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights and to hear from the United Nations Human Rights Council President, Ambassador Václav Bálek of the Czech Republic, in his recorded statement.

IOE thanks the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights and looks forward to continuing this outstanding collaboration in the coming year.
