The Director-Generals of the World Health Organization and the International Labour Organization will be part of a high-level IOE digital conference on 6 May 13:30 - 15:00 Central European Time (CET) together with the President and CEO of SHRM, the CEO of Randstad and the General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation.

As the alarming cost of the global lockdown grows daily, a safe back to work has become as urgent as fighting the virus. But it is clear that opening up economies and returning to work does not mean going “back to normal”. The world remains vulnerable to a second wave of Covid-19, forcing employers to devise strategies that ensure business continuity, protect the health and safety of employees and build-in mitigation measures in case of a reemergence.

The global leaders of the health and economic response to this pandemic:

WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus

ILO Director-General Guy Ryder

will offer unique insight on how IOE’s members can assist the 50 million businesses they represent with a safe and effective return to work.

SHRM President and CEO Johnny C. Taylor, Jr.

Randstad CEO Jacques van den Broek

International Trade Union Confederation General Secretary Sharan Burrow

will also be part of this exceptional virtual dialogue to map out the most effective business plans to get back to work safely in an unpredictable health environment.

Ahead of the event, IOE and SHRM are launching a forward-looking guide, Return to work during Covid-19, to assist employers as they devise their back to work plans. The guide provides a comprehensive list of concrete issues and measures to include in company-wide strategies before re-opening for business. Also attached is a reference document from the Randstad-Adecco-Manpower white paper Safely Back to Work. (Both are available in resource box below).
