Save the date and join us in an upcoming high-level online dialogue that will take a deep dive on two very pressing issues for business and society: climate change and Covid-19.

IOE is convening high-level expert representatives from the private sector and the international community to exchange views and discuss practical collaborative solutions for Covid-19 recovery and climate action. The Covid-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented crisis in society with novel challenges and pressures for the business community. Although climate change is a different issue and requires adapted policy responses there are some similarities between the two crises and it makes sense to learn from responses to and effects of Covid-19 but also to seek synergies in policies and stimulus packages that do not impede one or the other agenda but rather create efficiencies and achieve parallel objectives.

Some of the questions that will be discussed include:

  • How can we build a better normal by strengthening synergies between pandemic recovery and climate adaptation and mitigation strategies to foster economic growth and job creation?
  • How can lessons learned from Covid-19 be integrated into economic resilience initiatives to climate related events?
  • In what ways are international agencies taking a fresh look at their climate efforts in light of Covid-19 economic response and recovery?

IOE will release a new policy package including a policy paper and guidance note in parallel to this event. The policy paper deals with employment and climate change through a business view and the guidance note provides background and technical insights.

The tentative agenda and draft concept note can be found in the Resources section for your convenience. Please register for the event here - the deadline for registration is Thursday 25 June.

This event is a great opportunity to hear from leaders in the international community and the private sector, how they are rising to the challenge, and how we can work together for smart recovery and climate action. We expect strong participation from our membership and network as this is a crucial issue facing business today and appropriate engagement from the private sector is essential.

Feel free to contact us for any additional information. We are looking forward to an insightful discussion and seeing a fruitful exchange between the speakers and participants.
