Winners of the International Elimination of Child Labour Changemaker Award announced

IOE launched this prestigious Award in 2021 to recognise the exceptional efforts taken by our member organisations to eliminate child labour and to inspire the private sector to scale up efforts.

IOE is pleased to announce the winners of the International Elimination of Child Labour Changemaker Award 2021: Gold Award went to Cámara del Agro, in Guatemala, for their initiative "Boys and Girls at School"; Silver Award was granted to FUNDAZÚCAR, in El Salvador, for their Zero Tolerance Policy against Child Labour; and the Bronze Award was given to the Federation of Kenya Employers, in Kenya, for their "Adopt a School" initiative.

Numerous IOE member organisations from around the world sent their submissions. Applications were judged on three criteria: demonstrating creativity and innovative solutions; promoting awareness of child labour, positive and effective impact on eliminating child labour; and sustainability.

The 2021 panel of judges included experts in child rights and child labour from Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation (KSCF), the International Labour Organization (ILO) and IOE.

In her acceptance words, Cámara del Agro’s Executive Director, Carla Caballeros, said despite many challenges, employers around the world are inspiring each other to support and promote public-private efforts to make sure not only we can end child labour, but we can also have a bigger, long-term impact in our communities and our countries by demanding quality education systems as the only sustainable way to reduce child labour and secure a future with opportunities for all children. Cámara del Agro is a member of the largest Guatemalan Employers’ Association, CACIF – IOE Member.

IOE congratulates the winners for their extraordinary efforts in combatting child labour and thanks all participants for their submissions showcasing their sustainable, innovative, and impactful projects to put an end to child labour. The winners will benefit from extensive social media coverage and the opportunity to present their innovation strategies at the international level.
