Now available: Report for Asia Regional Workshop

Read our report on the Asia Regional Workshop which took place on May 18-20, 2021.

Enclosed we present to you the summary report of the workshop and dialogue sessions for employers and governments in 14 Asian countries which took place during May 18-20, 2021. The document outlines key takeaways and recommendations by employers who pledged to work together with their governments on concrete solutions in implementing Global Compact on Migration objectives 5 on legal pathways, 6 on responsible recruitment and 18 on skills development.

The workshop was successfully hosted by the Business Advisory Group on Migration, together with the International Organisation of Employers (IOE). The Government of Indonesia graciously co-hosted the dialogue session.

Consisting of two parts, the objectives were to support employers in Asia in their outreach to governments on migration-related issues of priority to business (18-19 May – employers only sessions) and to foster and improve the dialogue and understanding between employers and governments on the same key migration topics (20 May - dialogue for governments and businesses).

The outcome of this meeting will be shared with the GFMD community, as well as at the International Migration Review Forum to take place in 2022, where IOE will bring the employers’ voice.
