2019 Global Young Professionals' Academy: investing in employers' organisation leaders of the future

25 young professionals from IOE member organisations around the world came together in Madrid, Spain from 8 to 12 April for a capacity-building and networking week with their peers at the 2019 Global Employers' Young Professionals’ Academy.

The 3rd edition of IOE’s Global Young Employers’ Academy took place in Madrid from 8 to 12 April. Organised by IOE, with the support of CEOE, ITCILO and the generous contribution of the European Union, the Academy aimed to build the skills of young professionals currently working in employers' organisations (EOs) that are members of IOE, and to provide a networking space.

With a view to bolstering the future capacity of EOs to meet the needs of an evolving membership, young professionals from 23  countries, and from all regions of IOE membership, completed a face-to-face training programme, which followed a two-week distance learning session, with modules covering effective advocacy, communications, member-driven services, skills for the future and more.

The class of 2019 now joins the cohort of 70+ young EO professionals who have graduated from the Academy since 2016, taking new skills back to their organisations and continuing to benefit from the training and peer-networking opportunities afforded by the Academy.

Commending the Academy for supporting young EO professionals in building their skills, IOE Secretary-General Roberto Suárez said: "We are very grateful for the support of the European Union for this initiative - the success of employers' organisations going forward depends on the ability of these young people to rise to the challenges ahead and become our EO leaders of the future."
