Business attends the meeting of the ILO Global Commission on the Future of Work in Geneva

The Global Commission of the Future of Work met last week in Geneva and started its discussions to produce an independent report on how to achieve a future of work that provides decent and sustainable work opportunities for all. The Prime Minister of Sweden Stefan, Löfven and Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, President of the Republic of Mauritius, co-chair this Commission. This is the second round of discussions and will be followed by another 2 rounds in May and November this year. Mthunzi Mdwaba, IOE Vice-President to the ILO; Kristin Skogen Lund, CEO of the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprises (NHO); Dr A. Didar Singh, Former Secretary-General of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, India; and Alain Dehaze, Chief Executive Officer of the Adecco Group, are members of the Commission and joined this meeting. IOE Deputy Secretary-General, Roberto Suárez Santos also attended the discussion. The exchange was focused on 6 clusters: the role of work, ending women's inequality in the workplace, technology for social/economic development, managing change during education, new approaches to growth and development and the future governance of work. Issue briefs for each cluster served to stimulate the discussion. These issue briefs can be found on the ILO website, as well as relevant information regarding the Global Commission.
