Dear Members and Partners, 

As you may recall, we previously drew your attention to an ISO proposal submitted by the British Standards Institution (BSI) to create a new Technical Committee (TC) on Occupational Health and Safety management (Click here to view).

The new Technical Committee (ISO/TC 283) aims to discuss items for future work in view of updating the ISO 45001 standard. The TC will convene its first meeting from 17 to 21 September in Coventry, United Kingdom. You will find the agenda in the side panel on the right. It is important to ensure that the employers’ voice is being heard in this working group from the outset.

As a liaison member, the IOE is entitled to up to three seats in ISO meetings. Please let us know whether you would be willing to participate in this meeting. Please also note that interested experts will have to cover their own expenses.

In parallel, the ISO has launched a ballot to officially propose a new work item on “Psychological health and safety in the Workplace - Guidelines” (Link to the proposal via the side panel on the right), which if adopted would be part of the work plan of this Technical Committee.

The deadline for national standardization bodies to respond is August 2. Please ensure you take the necessary action towards your ISO National Body in urging them to vote "No" to this proposal.
