Training the trainers on OSH essentials in Azerbaijan

The IOE joined forces with ITC-ILO and its local member, the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers') Organizations of Azerbaijan (ASK), to run a workshop in Baku from 11 - 14 December dedicated to the training of OSH professionals.

The four-day, face-to-face training course was part of a comprehensive ITC-ILO Essentials of Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) blended course to "train the trainers", and followed 50 hours of distance learning. The activity was designed with the specific needs of the Azerbaijani business community in mind and was conducted in English with Azeri and Russian interpretation.

The overall aim of the EOSH is to train future local trainers through a detailed and rigorous course. The IOE, with the financial support of the European Union, is proud to support its member organisation to set up new training services on OSH using the EOSH package. The training and advisory service also includes:

  • Support in the elaboration of the business plan for EOSH delivery
  • Assistance in the marketing efforts of the first editions of the course
  • Access to a community of practices to learn how other EOs are organising, marketing and running courses

Speaking on the importance of the workshop, ASK's Acting Secretary-General Kristina Mammadova said: "We are delighted to be working with the IOE and the ILO's international training centre to offer this workshop for OSH trainers as part of our range of services to members. The high level of participation and enthusiasm indicates that keeping up-to-date with state-of-the art tools to foster a preventative OSH culture is a priority for Azerbaijani businesses and one that we are very keen to encourage."
