Recap of the launch of the Global Commission on the Future of Work

IOE Senior Adviser María Paz Anzorreguy attended the launch of the Global Commission on the Future of Work on Monday 21 August in Geneva. The launch marks the second stage in the ILO’s Future of Work Initiative. The members of the Commission can be found on the ILO website here.

In her comments at the launch, Ms Anzorreguy called on the Global Commission on the Future of Work to address today’s critical issues and those of the future. She also underlined that the future of work is about transforming mindsets and attitudes towards work. In particular employers expect that the Commission will:

  • Conduct solid research, data and analysis in collaboration with other relevant international organizations and partners
  • Promote creative thinking to bring about a real change in designing future-proof policies, institutions and regulations
  • Actively listen to all stakeholders and foster constructive dialogue to achieve a consensus to shape the future of work.

Employers are willing to provide credible input to the Commission on how we can work together to prepare for the future.

Yours sincerely,

Linda Kromjong,          Roberto Suárez Santos,

Secretary-General       Deputy Secretary-General
