The GFMD Business Mechanism is organising a business meeting during the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) Summit on 29 June from 14.30 to 18.00 at the German Foreign Ministry in Berlin.

This high-level conference will discuss pressing issues related to migration, including:

• The need for skills mobility
• The business case for responsible recruitment
• Innovations for migrant and refugee access to labour markets
• Entrepreneurship and circular migration  

A report will be presented at the conference, which builds upon "The Business Case for Migration" launched at the 2016 GFMD Summit.  The paper was based on a survey of more than 210 companies and employers' federations worldwide and serves to define the business needs and priorities in terms of labour mobility. This conference is aimed at company practitioners (HR or CSR) and business federation representatives. It will provide participants with a safe space to share experiences, learn about new trends and developments, network with peers and governments, and influence the business position on important dossiers. The outcome of the meeting will input the United Nations global compact for safe, orderly and regular migration that members states will start negotiating in 2018.

The business meeting will be followed by a networking reception, hosted by the Government of Morocco, co-chair of the 2017-2018 GFMD.

The Government-led GFMD Summit will take place from 28 to 30 June. Business representatives are also invited to attend the Common Space programme of the Summit on 30 June (whole day). This platform serves as a multi-stakeholder dialogue on migration. Please refer to the Common Space Programme in the side panel.
