XXI Inter-American Conference of Ministers of Labour (IACML) of the OAS: "Building a more resilient world of work with sustainable development, decent work, productive employment, and social inclusion"

On this occasion, CEATAL, coordinated by IOE, is representing Employers.

Aim of the Meeting

The Ministers of Labour of the Americas will discuss and propose hemispheric actions to address the devastating effects of COVID-19 on employment, build a new and better world of work, and develop more resilient, just and equitable societies. Under this approach, they will discuss the future of work; the articulation between labour, economic, education and health policies; the expansion of social protection; the centrality of institutionalised social dialogue to overcome the crisis; and the strengthening of the Ministries of Labour to address emerging changes in the world of work, such as telework and the platform economy, among other issues of utmost relevance.

The XXI IACML will be the firt virtual OAS Ministerial Labour Conference, and will take place under the Chairmanship of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security of Argentina.

The meetings of the two IACML Consultative Bodies; the Trade Union Technical Advisory Council (COSATE), representing workers; and the Business Technical Advisory Committee on Labor Matters (CEATAL), representing employers and coordinated by IOE, will also take place during these dates. CEATAL will have the possibility to decide and agree on the main messages to bring to the Conference.

The meetings will take place through the KUDO platform.

IOE Role

Coordinate CEATAL participation and support the definition of the main messages Employers would like to present to the Ministers of Labour.
