UN Guiding Principles@10: Impact and way forward

Important event on 21 June 2021, 13:30-15:10 (CET) to contribute to the next decade of UNGP-related actions.

June 2021 marks the tenth anniversary of the unanimous endorsement by the Human Rights Council of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs).

As part of its mandate to promote the UNGPs, the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights has undertaken a project referred to as UNGPs 10+ to evaluate the first ten years and develop a roadmap for a new decade of action to increase the pace of implementation.

The evaluation of the first ten years of implementation – the “stocktaking” report – was launched on the UNGPs anniversary date, 16 June, and officially presented to the UN Human Rights Council’s 47th session. The stocktaking points to key obstacles and opportunities for governments, business and other stakeholders to speed up wider and deeper implementation. The anniversary and stocktaking dialogues in June kick off the final stage of the UNGPs 10+ which will culminate in the roadmap launch in December 2021.

Our event aims to mark the achievements of the UNGPs to date and raise further awareness and bolster ongoing support among the business community.
