Following up on our successful Global Conference on the Future of Work, which took place in Madrid in 2017 under the auspices of the Spanish Confederation of Employers' Organisations, we are pleased to announce that CAPE and ACE have agreed to co-organise and co-host with IOE the 2020 edition of the Conference, which will be generously supported by the European Union.
The 2020 Global Conference on the Future of Work expects to welcome a minimum of 40 representatives of Employer and Business Membership Organisations (EBMOs) from around the world, including from Least Developed Countries. The Conference, which will be conducted in English, will aim to:
- Strengthen the capacity of EBMOs to advocate for policies that enhance and support "future of work" readiness activities; to review measures that are already working; to identify the policies that need to be improved in terms of their focus on anticipating skills needs, and upskilling and reskilling workforces to meet the challenges and opportunities arising from the rapid pace of technological, demographic and environmental disruption being faced by businesses in all regions of the world, albeit in different ways;
- Provide a venue and opportunity to develop EBMO cooperation in global and regional debates on "future of work" policies.
- Build on IOE's established expertise in the "future of work"arena, as seen, inter alia, in the joint report with ILO entitled "CHANGING BUSINESS and opportunities for Employer and Business Membership Organisations" and IOE's participation in the negotiation and drafting of the historic ILO Centenary Declaration on the Future of Work
IOE will facilitate the participation of EBMOs who could not otherwise attend, which will in turn make for a diverse mix of participants, and therefore a truly global and representative employer and business perspective on the issues under discussion.
For now, we invite you to save the dates! Additional information will be circulated in due course.
Should you have any questions in the meantime on the IOE's Future of Work activity, kindly contact Ms Akustina Morni, Adviser (firstname.lastname@example.org). For information on the Conference, kindly contact Ms Anetha Awuku, Project Manager (email@example.com).
