Watch the UN celebrations of the ILO centenary

The UN General Assembly is marking the Centenary of the ILO with a special Plenary and high-level events taking place throughout the day.

The overarching objective of the meeting is to share best practices, concrete solutions and ambitious recommendations for shaping the future of work with decent work for all. Forging a new path requires commitment and action from all stakeholders but particularly from governments and employers’ and workers’ organizations who will play a key role in devising human-centred policies that benefit economies and people.

IOE is set to take centre stage throughout the day with keynote speeches and presentations. You can follow today’s events live on http://webtv.un.org/.

The schedule of events is the following (New York time zone):

  • 10:00 – 13:00: Special General Assembly session. IOE President Erol Kiresepi speech.
  • 13:15 – 14:45: Lunch offered by the President of the General Assembly.
    • IOE Secretary General Roberto Suárez Santos addressing attendees on progress towards SDG8: good practices and lessons learned. (Not live streamed by UN TV)
  • 15:00 – 18:00: Two High-level Interactive Panels:
    • Addressing Unfinished Commitments to Achieve Decent Work for All
    • Shaping the Future of Work

Vice-Chair of the ILO Governing Body and IOE Vice-President for the ILO MthunziMdwaba will participate in the first panel.
