Announcement: Appointment of the new IOE Secretary-General

The IOE appoints a new Secretary-General with the unanimous approval of the Management Board

Dear Members and Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that the comprehensive and transparent process to appoint a new IOE Secretary-General has been successfully completed.

On Friday 26 October 2018, with the unanimous recommendation of the Selection Committee, which reflected the geographic diversity of the IOE membership, the Management Board appointed Roberto Suárez Santos as the new Secretary-General.

Roberto joined the IOE in December 2012 as Deputy Secretary-General, bringing with him many years’ experience in representing the interests of Spanish employers at national level. He also has both academic and private-sector experience in European and International Labour Law, together with an international relations background.

Roberto has been Acting Secretary-General of the IOE for the past six months, following Linda Kromjong’s stepping down from her post in March after three years of dedicated leadership.

As well as his native Spanish, Roberto speaks English and French.

On behalf of the Management Board, I invite you to join us in congratulating Roberto on his new post; we wish him every success.

Yours sincerely,

Erol Kiresepi
President
