IOE welcomes new senior advisor

Luis Rodrigo Morales has joined IOE staff as Senior Adviser.

We are pleased to inform you that Mr. Luis Rodrigo Morales has joined the IOE as Senior Adviser.

He will be involved in different policy areas including ILO supervisory mechanisms, future of work, industrial relations and social protection, among others.

Mr. Morales is an international lawyer with over 15 years of experience in the public and private sectors. He holds a law degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. In 2006, he earned a master’s degree in International Business Law (LL.M.) (cum laude), at the Katholieke Universiteit, School of Law, Leuven, Belgium.

From 2013 to 2019, he served as Minister of Labor Affairs in Europe for the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare of the Government of Mexico. From 2015-2016, in his capacity as government representative, he was regional coordinator for the Americas Group in the ILO, and later became President of the Government Group between 2016-2017.

In addition, he was spokesperson of the Government Group within the Standard’s Review Mechanism, the Multinational Enterprises Declaration Tripartite Working Group and other relevant ILO meetings. He was a member of the Committee on Freedom of Association in 2013.

He is fluent in Spanish and English and has good knowledge of French.
