IOE Adviser for Africa, Mr. Lameck Jaston

IOE Adviser for Africa, Mr. Lameck Jaston

Introducing Mr Lameck Jaston

Dear Members,

It is my sincere pleasure to present Mr Lameck Jaston who took up his post as the new IOE Adviser for Africa on 1 January.

Lameck comes to the IOE from UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development) in Geneva, where he worked as an international trade expert on projects to strengthen competition and consumer protection law and policies in several Africa countries.

Prior to that, he was at the Geneva-based South Centre, conducting research on digital trade and the changing employer-employee relationship in developing countries, and promoting trade and investment in developing countries through inclusive and sustainable trade and investment policy.

Lameck has also held various posts, in the UN system and elsewhere, in his native Tanzania, where he gained his Bachelor’s in Political Science and undertook post-graduate studies in international relations.  He furthered his academic career in Switzerland, achieving a Master’s in International Relations in 2014, and a Master of Laws in 2017.

Lameck, therefore, brings impressive academic and professional qualities, together with fluency in Swahili, English and French, to his new role.

Among other duties, Lameck will be taking over the responsibilities of the former IOE Adviser for Africa.

On behalf of the IOE, I am delighted to welcome Lameck to the Secretariat team and to introduce him to you, the members, whom he is looking forward to meeting in due course.

Lameck’s email address is jaston(at)ioe-emp.com.

Yours sincerely,

Roberto Suárez Santos
Secretary-General
