IOE Deputy Secretary-General meets BUSA and attends National Future of Work Forum in South Africa

IOE Deputy Secretary-General Roberto Suárez Santos attended several meetings in Johannesburg, South Africa at the request of Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) in February 2017. Mr. Roberto Suárez Santos met with the new CEO of BUSA on 7 February, together with a representative from ACT/EMP, to discuss a wide range of issues of mutual interest and the role of BUSA in the South African business community. The meeting with BUSA resulted in a number of goals being decided for future collaboration between the IOE and BUSA.


On the 8 and 9 February Mr. Suárez Santos represented the IOE at the National Future of Work Forum. The ILO Regional Director for Africa, together with around 60 social partners, academics, and ILO specialists were in attendance. Mr. Suárez Santos took part in several discussions and contributed advice and guidance on subjects such as new forms of employment, and the challenges associated with new skills and inequalities.
