IOE President commends the outcome of the G20 Leaders’ Summit on COVID-19

IOE President Erol Kiresepi provides an official reaction to G20 Leaders’ Statement.

The International Organisation of Employers (IOE) welcomes the agreement of G20 leaders “to do whatever it takes to overcome the pandemic, along with the World Health Organization, International Monetary Fund, World Bank Group, United Nations, and other international organizations”.

Never has this message been so pertinent; and it is in line with the call that IOE and the International Trade Union Confederation, representing their global membership of more than 50 million companies and 200 million workers, made on the G20, G7 and international organisations to support focused, efficient and impact proven measures. These measures should reach the real economy including casual and informal workers, and all of business, especially small and medium enterprises. The G20 has echoed this call in their Leaders’ Statement (please see in the Resources Section).

All stakeholders now need to focus on transforming the G20 Statement into concrete actions and support governments and the international organisations to implement the immediate crisis management and undertake strong revival planning.
