After the successful pilot edition in 2012-13 which counted with the participation of 27 participants from 5 continents, the Employers’ Activities Programme of the International Training Centre of the ILO is pleased to inform you that applications to the second edition of the Master Training on the Effective Business Member Organization are now open. 

 

 

What is the Master Training on the Effective Business Member Organization?
The Master Training on Effective Business Member Organizations is the unique post graduate course in Management of Business Member Organizations (BMOs). It will reinforce your capacities to fully play your role as BMO staff, voicing the needs and providing support to members and being an effective actor in national policy-making.

  • Content: 360° analysis and review of the BMOs practices in their core fields of action (advocacy, lobbying, services provision) and organizational strategies (governance, membership, communication).
  • Methodology: The Master Training combines 40 hours of distance learning (with personal tutors), a 5-day face-to-face workshop at the ITC-ILO campus in Turin/Italy, and an optional study visit to European BMOs.
  • International audience and faculty: The Master Training is open to representatives of BMOs from all over the world; it mobilizes an international faculty with experts and capacity-building specialists with long-standing experience in the management and functioning of BMOs.
  • Networking: the Master Training represents a great opportunity for networking with peers working in BMOs via the ITC-ILO e-campus and during the residential training in Turin.

Who should participate?
The Master Training is targeted to professional staff and Governing Board members who have taken new responsibilities in their organizations or who feel a need to update or expand their knowledge and competencies or who want to benchmark themselves and their organizations to state-of-the-art practices of sister business organizations.

When will it take place?

  1. Distance learning (40 hours): 1 November – 21 February 2013 
  2. Face-to-Face workshop in ITC ILO campus in Turin: 3-7 March 2014

The Master Training is implemented by the Programme for Employers’ Activities of the ITC ILO in cooperation with the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) and the ILO Bureau for Employers’ Activities.
