Launch of the Centre for Sports and Human Rights

Dear Members and Partners,

You have been informed in the past (see here) about the establishment of a Centre for Sports and Human Rights. The Centre has the aim to “share knowledge, build capacity and strengthen the accountability of all actors involved in sport through collective action and promotion of the Sporting Chance Principles on Sport and Human Rights.”

After two years of preparation, the Centre will be officially launched on 26 June 2018. It will be based in Geneva. The Centre is supported by a diverse coalition including FIFA, the International Olympic Committee, Commonwealth Games Federation, and UEFA, as well as the ILO and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, companies and trade unions. The IOE has been a member of the advisory council of the Centre from the very beginning.

The Centre is currently looking to recruit a CEO. We would like to ask you to inform us about any proposal you might have.

Please find attached the Centre for Sport and Human Rights Strategic Plan 2018-2020 as well as the Sporting Chance Principles.

Please do not hesitate to contact me in case you have any question.

Yours sincerely,

Matthias Thorns
Director of Stakeholder Engagement
