Since its inception in 1986 PEC has worked very closely with the IOE and has be come the recognized voice of employers and the private sector on the African continent and internationally. The IOE has continued to give PEC its full support in its efforts to strengthen sub regional employer associations. The Confederation is now officially recognized as the representative business partner of the African Union Labour and Social Affairs Commission.


PEC has recently launched a ‘think tank’ for enterprise promotion in Africa. The new institution, the Pan African Convention on Investment and Partnerships and will bring together heads of employers’ organizations, directors of companies and their institutional partners to act as a platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas. It will also carry out thematic studies, share and disseminate information and organize showcase events.
